The Giver

I just saw the movie called “The Giver”, and the basis of this movie was that certain people felt that the human race could not manage themselves by the way they were living. So a community was created where people were cut off from their feelings, so for example you didn't know what things like Love was, you didn't know what it meant to not like someone. They made every person within that community equal. The people within the community also had their memory blocked so they couldn't remember anything about their lives or history for that matter. People within that community also couldn't touch each other, you had to talk using a certain language, basically you couldn't say any action words. The elders that controlled that community found a way to block people from their spirit. Everything went according to a system that the elders created.

The basis of this movie was similar to the movie, “Divergent”. At certain point every person in that community was chosen for a particular job and that's what they had to do for the rest of their lives. In “The Giver”, one special person was chosen to be something the Receiver. This position required that the person go through certain training to gain access to all the memories which had been lost. Only one receiver is picked in a lifetime. Once the training was over the person that was chosen realized that he was being controlled and everybody he knew was being controlled as well. His job was to find a way to help people connect back to their emotions and get them out the mental prison that was being created for them. I'm not going to talk anymore about the movie. You should watch the rest and see what you think.

After watching the movie I was able to compare the world to the same community that was in the movie. In the movie, every person has to get an injection before they left their house, which help block their emotions. In our society, drugs, bad food, TV and radio are the reason we get sick, stressed, the reason people worry and the reason why most people have hate and fear in their hearts instead of love. In the movie, you were not allowed to touch, have sex, or interact in anyway the elders deemed not necessary. In this society, technology has added to the problem of people connecting with one another. Cell phones, TV, your computer all help pay more attention to what's in your hand instead of the people around you. In the movie, people within that a community was taught not to question what they were told and what they were told were lies. For example, they gave a child a toy elephant and told them that it was a hippo. The elders within that community knew knowledge was power so they stole the people's memories so they would never know where they came from. Sounds like a familiar story. That's what happened to people of color. We were murdered, they separated us from our families, changed our names, raped our women, stole our history and then rewrote so it would work against us. The movie reminded me that this society has also found a way to block people from spirit. It's sad but a spirit in human form is like a blank canvas. Babies come out full of joy, but in the wrong hands a person can be raised to hate, kill and only represent the darkness that lives within them.

The movie made me look back in history when they use to hang people that look like me in trees in the middle of the day. People had to be disconnected from spirit, when you could gather to see a person get hung and then pose for the picture. The movie, “The Giver” was kind in its representation of control, history wasn't as kind. How do you kill a person based on how they look? The movie is a representation of this current society, we are comfortable watching people suffer as long as it's not our family, and in some cases even when it's our family we still neglect to reach out and help.

I believe the reason why billions of people can be controlled and conquered is because we lack unity, love, compassion and empathy for one another. If we treated each other like we were all family, the world wouldn't be this way. If we worked together to end poverty the world wouldn't be this way. If we just opened up our hearts and looked deep down inside, we would recognize our greatness within. How do you control billions of people? First you create an illusion of a paradise that you have to be chosen to get into. Then you create a religion with different perspective of getting into that paradise and you use that system to separate people. After that you use things like racism, money, war, hate and ignorance to consume the world, and then people will so busy fighting and killing one another that they never realize they’ve made all of us into slaves.

We all have pieces of our creator inside of us, and I guess pain is necessary because you only learn in contrast of good and bad. Just know that the world we live in is not supposed to be like this. There is supposed to be enough for all, we are supposed to be able to live beautiful lives and do whatever our hearts desires. We were not created to be bound by anything except love. Being that we are all connected through spirit we will never be truly free until we start viewing one another as one, and until we change this world together. An injustice to one of us should be an injustice to all of us. Until that happens just look around and you will see what being conquered feels like. If we connect we can change the world. And you don't need a movie to see that the world needs help. Either you wake up and be a part of the solution or stay sleep and live in an illusion. The one rule to receive is to give, love will set us free, and hate will destroy us all.
