Trust the Process

By guest writer: Raven Hodge

Fear and impatience are dream killers. When I found my purpose I thought everything would just fall into place if I did the work. I failed to realize that upon the realization of my purpose that I had to be prepared to fight. I went into the fight unprepared and lost miserably; not because I couldn't fight it was because I waved the white flag when the going got tough. I stopped pursuing my dream and started playing it safe. I thought getting a good job was more important than using my voice to inspire and save lives.

However, when you have a true calling upon your life it does not let up. The voices got louder and louder until I could not ignore them any longer. I knew that the risk would be costly and I was willing to risk it all. Trusting the process means that you have to know that living in your purpose is the most important part of your journey. Living in your purpose means you abandon your comfort zone for the rest of your life.

Motivational speaker Inky Johnson often talks about process versus outcomes. One of the reasons why individuals do not see there goals through to completion is because they only focused on the end result. They forget about the process and journey and when things do not go their way they give up. I was one of the individuals for many years.

I had to through a painful process of realizing that if I was going to embark on this journey that I could not worry about if it was going to work out. I had to fall in love with the process. It is far more important to live in your purpose even if things do not work out in your favor. Even if you we feel that you lost you've won because you decided to take the risk and trust the process.
